The Capitol 25 Oct 2024

Presented by RMIT’s Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing

Odyssey Literary Festival is evolving in Naarm/Melbourne on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri People. We pay our respects to their elders, ancestors and the deep tradition of storytelling embodied in these lands.

RMIT Professional Writing and Editing’s flagship literary extravaganza has returned after a half-decade hiatus. There will be interactive activities, panel discussions and trailblazing debates featuring Australian publishing’s best and brightest.

From childhood to adolescence, coming of age to midlife malaise, the ageing body to the great beyond – join us on this literary voyage through life’s liminal stages.

So dust off your notebooks, journeyed storytellers, and grab your (completely free) ticket. It’s gonna be epic.

Our partners

Huge thanks to our primary sponsors and partners: RMIT University, The Capitol, Liquid Ink, Assembly Four, Two Wolves Digest, Visible Ink, and Convergence Press. Thank you for supporting us and helping us realise our festival vision.

We also give special thanks to our many GoFundMe donors. You were the compost to our seedling, the water to our soil, the sunlight to our chlorophyll. Dozens of people gave generously to our fundraising campaign over four exhilarating weeks. Particular thanks to our top donors: Yannick Thoraval, Sarah Vincent, Melissa Cranenburgh, Max Craigie, Peter Haydon, Sydney Van Ewyk, Khadir Rahman, Emmy Brown and several anonymous donors. From $5 to $500, your generosity has transformed our festival from harebrained ideas into the living, breathing celebration of literature we dreamed of.

Odyssey Festival illustration is a white egg in the centre filled with soil that has a leafy plant sprouting out of it, while the background overlooks a river that leads to a small village in front of a mountain. On the left of the river is a small cliff with water running down its rocks, atop the cliff are small medieval-style towers. While on the right are some people passing through a rocky arch. The sky is grey-blue with dark grey clouds. There is a full moon near the mountaintop.
